I was wondering can someone who is overweight get a waiver to join the corps? or do they have to be at a set weight to DEP in?

Holy dog****, aren't you speaking of attempting to become a Marine? If you want to be a Marine, you'll have to abide by USMC standards! If the Corps says you're overweight and you don't tape out -- guess what, you are!
And a waiver for being overweight...you're ALREADY trying to take the easy road. It's a shame most people don't realise that road is much longer and harder than they think. Just lose the damn weight. Then join. Simple.
