I am a Poolee and I ship in August. When me and my recruiter came back from MEPS, we sat down and talked about jobs I could get. I picked "Legal and Administration" and he called me the next day and said he got me the job.

Now, Im thinking about switching my MOS from that to "Aviation Logistics".

But I want to talk to Marines from here and see what they think. Should I switch my MOS? Is it worth it?

I am looking for an MOS that can transfer to a good job in the civilian world.

Which is the better job for once I get out and finish with the Marine Corps,
Legal and Administration OR Aviation Logistics?

So what do you guys think I should do?

I have no experience with either MOS however I can tell you to get a job you like it will be what you will be doing for the next four years.Do not let anyone talk you into doing something you do not want to do.Just remember we are all 0311 first in the Corps.Good luck Poolee with what ever MOS you choose.

My thoughts exactly! If you think you want to be in Aviation Logistics then do some research, list out the Pros/Cons for each and go with what you want. Your Recruiter may grumble and gripe (paperwork almost always sucks), but if you still enlist then he/she shouldn't be to bent.

As for what will get you a good civilian job when you get out, again, do some research. If memory serves there are websites that show what each MOS can correspond to in the Civilian World. Also, you may end up doing something completely different from what your MOS was when you get out. I was a 2871, TMDE Repair, during my time in, I'm now a consultant for a Fortune 100 firm, never saw that coming. The reason I landed this job is because I chased every opportunity that came my way in the Corps. I was a 2871, a MCMAP Instructor and an MSG.

Make of it what you will and follow your own path. Good luck!

I also signed in 2001 for Legal Administration and ended up as an Aviation Maintenance Administration Specialist/ Data Analyst for the Wing. A good percentage signed up for legal admin and ended just like I did. Remember that little section that states your MOS is at the discretion of the Corps and its needs.

alright thanks for the advice.

Im probably just going to stick with Legal and Administration.
The only reason I thought of changing it was because maybe there were better jobs in the Marines that could transfer to the civilian world.

LOL! Any job you get in the Corps will transfer back to civilian life - if for nothing more than just having been a Marine.
