SAND LAKE, Mich. — Mr. Raymond S. Bydalek, 80, of Sand Lake, Mich., passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008.

As a young man he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.

In 1948, Ray was married to his sweetheart, Elizabeth Russell by his uncle, Father Stan Fron.

He was an appraiser for H.U.D., working in Escanaba until his retirement in 1981.

Ray is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Mark and Sarah Bydalek of Walker, and Mary Abair of Plymouth, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Hank Bydalek, Tom and Sue Bydalek, Jim and Joel Bydalek, and Stan Bydalek; several nieces and nephews; and very close friends, Phil and Sue Odren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Provo.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be offered on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Mary Queen of Apostles in Sand Lake with The Rev. Joseph Kenshol presiding.

Interment with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

A Scripture Service will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Building Fund at Mary Queen of Apostles. Friends may meet with Ray’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street, Rockford, Mich., and an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday.
