I have a question about the Split Op program. I am a Social Studies teacher and so if I join I will be doing the split op program for the Reserves. If I am understanding this correctly, I will go to basic this summer and then go to SOI next summer. My question is, what will I do in the year between boot camp and SOI. Will I just drill with my unit for that year the same as everyone else (even though I have not yet been to SOI)? Or will I perform some different job until I go to SOI?

Thanks for all the help,

That program was to help you stay in school,as I am led to believe. If you ain't in school,,,,, What are you doing there? Take up basketweaving. Or, I guess, you are being helped to stay a teacher. You have no job till after SOI.

You don't qualify. This program is for college students so they do not miss any class.

Those who do qualify drill like any other reservist during the school year. They get on the job training before the next summer where they go to MCT+MOS school.
