Since I am not a Marine and cannot post in the threads on here I guess I will just start another thread. Not that this makes any difference to me but in the USMCR does it take longer to be promoted? Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't. It is sometimes faster. However, this means that if you transfer from Reserve to Active as an NCO, you may lose a stripe. As said before, every MOS is different, and situations vary according to the needs of the Corps.

The reservisits promotion cycle is every quarter (three months), the Active Duty's promotion cycle is every month. With that being said, the cutting score for reservists right now are very high whereas the cutting score for some Active Duty MOSs are low. I can have a cutting score of 1700 in the reserves but not be promoted to SGT, but the AD cutting score might be soemthing like 1550. I think its faster getting promoted in AD.
