So you want to be a CANNON COCKER eh? ;) Use the search engine or google it, then ask if you can't find what you want, ok?

Welcome aboard,

Thanks Marines!
I just got a question, since the Mos school is at Fort. Sill, do they use the M198 Howitzer or the M777, i saw that the M198 is being replaced by the M777? And one last question, How long is the Mos Schooling?

Ooohrah Gun Bunnies!

You are still likely to train on the M198 because it has not been completely phased out of the units. We still trained on the 105 even when nobody was using it.

Are you going Reserve? Pico Rivera, November 5/14?

MOS school is 8 or 9 weeks. You're gonna love Lawton, OK. not.

lawton, OK is the butthole of the world. I found that out as a Sgt. going to artillery school in 1967. I was a gun grunt for about 8 years.

As to my post above I was going to artellery searchlight school at Fort Sill.
At LeJeune I was with 2nd Field Artillery Group using the 155 self propelled howitzers, but we also shot the 8inch and 175 gun self propelled guns also then ended my tour of duty at 29 Palms with the 1st Field Artillery Group with the self propelled 175 Gun. Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munition:
It detonates above the target area and releases 88 bomblets that are similar to fragmentation grenades. When you care enough to send the very best.

:D   In my just about 8 years as a gun grunt I was on the 4-deuce mortars, 105's which I hated, 155's were ok and the 8inch M-55 SP, which I liked. The best was the 4.2 inch mortars. We could have 16 rounds in the air at one time for one tube. There was nothing like catching a company of NVA in the open and having all them rounds coming down on them at one time. Them FO's and AFC's going nuts over what they are seeing.

Like the old saying goes, In Vietnam the infantry found the enemy and fixed them but the field artillery killed them. Semper FI.

Today's FO's would trade their first born to see a company size formation in the open nowadays.

FIRE MISSION!!!
