asvab vs gt test scores

im damnproud my son is going to pi in late april or the beginning of may

i do have some questions though (im sure i or my wife will have more).i have looked on the net and im confused. can someone tell me what the difference is between the asvab and gt scores are?

The ASVAB is the test you take to see how you place in the military. Your GT score comes from the ASVAB test. Your GT score will determine what job your qualified for. A really high GT score will get you any job in the service you want unless there are other standards you have to meet. I hope this helps you out some. I appreciate your Patriotism!

Thank you both for the response.but im still not clear on this.my son had a asvab test score of 72, does this mean his gt is 72? sorry im not getting this.

If he took his test with a Recruiter, you can ask them for a copy of your son's ASVAB. My son's both had the same score, but the line scores are most important. You wouldn't know those from his ASVAB 72. You would need to see the test paper with the line scores that include his GT. Hope that helps.

You will note that the AFQT score is 80 on this sample...his GT score is 122 for the Marines!

I hope that explains it for you. At least how to read his results!
