Dead Marine native of Coffee County
TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- A Marine from Alabama was found dead, slumped over his work station, at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Officials said Pvt. Jeffrey W. Slaten, 24, of Lee, was declared dead Monday after being discovered by fellow Marines. Circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation.
Slaten was an electrical equipment repair specialist. He joined the Marine Corps on July 13, 2005, and he served one tour in Iraq.
