I am looking for footage of a TV documentary about Marine Recon Swimmers that aired on KCOP-TV in Los Angeles on August 20, 1959. Does anyone have information about this episode?
In the late 1950's there was a serial TV documentary called "Danger is my Business." One episode featured the Marine Recon swimmers unit from Camp Pendleton. This episode was titled "The Phantom Leathernecks" and showed the unit going through training exercises. In exchange for allowing the filming of this Marine Unit the show's producers provided the Marine Unit modern diving equipment used by commercial professional divers. The Marine Unit at that time was using equipment that was a bit outdated.
