Ok, here's the deal. I'm going in as an enlisted man but If I am to make a career of this I was hoping to chase down a commission after I hit NCO. would an ROTC program put me on reserve or what? I don't understand how that works. And if I can stay on active duty from this choice, what U.S. Colleges would be best for it?

You can work on a degree while you're on active duty- you have to take classes at a college close to where you are stationed or online. You can apply to the MECEP program. If accepted you will be sent to college, be paid as a Sgt, and your job will be going to school.

ROTC programs aren't for people that are in the military. It is for civilians going to college. You could get out of the Marine Corps, enroll in a college, and then go ROTC if you wished.

Finally, any college accredited by the US Department of Education is acceptable.
