CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Marines mourned a fallen comrade Wednesday, who died Sept. 9 while conducting a combat operation in the Northern Helmand province of Afghanistan.
Cpl. Travis M. Woods, 21, had just celebrated his four-year anniversary of Marine Corps. Enlistment. His career was highlighted by a number of awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment.
Woods was a field wireman with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
