So anyone know any Good books to read pertaining to the Marine Corp?

Whether they are a MUST read, a Might want to read, or just a good read.

I'm about half way through "Making the Corps" by Thomas Reicks(?)
its really good, I cant put the damn thing down.

and I also ordered a copy of "One Bullet Away"

I'm reading that right now as well. I am also reading Boot by Daniel Da Cruz. It gets a lot deeper into the history but also trashes current (as of 1987) boot camp for being too soft. I also have Generation Kill and Into the Crucible which I have yet to read. Generation Kill is the same story as One Bullet Away but goes deeper into the breakdown of the individual Marines from what I am told. One Bullet Away was excellent.

"The Marine Corps Guidebook" may have some information you can use.

I read "the few and the proud" recently, it has stories from DI's in it. Pretty good reading material.

Yeah all of the above books are very good resources on the Corps... I'm suprised no one has mentioned MARINE! yet. wow what an amazing book, if you wanna see what kind of legacy you'll be living up to read all about Chesty.

My RSS has a poster of him in the far corner that I just noticed tonight when I brought my friend in to talk to my recruiter and I about fell outta my chair after I yelled "It's CHESTY!!!"

To Be A US Marine by S.F. Tomajczyk has lots of good info. And for any ladies, Parris Island: A Woman's Memoir of Marine Corps Boot Camp by Lisa Cordeiro.

If you want to read about Marines then you need to reas West Dickens Avenue, A Marine at Khe Sanh. Great Book on the men of the 26th Marines who lived through seventy seven days of combat.

The title of this thread scared me for a minute. The last USMC related book I read was "Marshalling the Faithful" about Marines' first experiences in Vietnam. I also read Rifleman Dodd after that, which isn't about Marines, but it is on the Marine Corps reading list and it is a very good book.

Read "Ender's Game" by Orson Card. It's on the Commandant's Reading List as well. It's a thinker though. There's far more to the book than the story.
