Alright, I am signing up to be a Marine, and I have chosen Data Systems as my MOS. I got a 82 on the ASVAB and a 114 in GT, which I am told is the required field, of which I only need 110 to get my MOS of Data Systems.

What my question is, how hard is the training for the MOS in Data Systems, what kind of skills would be good to know going in, if any, and how hard is the work to train, I know it will be hard, but how hard?

if you enjoy doing it man do it.. as far as learning the best bet is to have a study group and go after everything for your tests. You dont wanna rock out but as long as you try hard you'll get it man. Like most things the things in the Corps is the worst thing that's gotta be done is take all that nasty civilian **** you learned and get rid of it and teach you the Corps' way, which doesnt make sense alot of the times but it's got apurpose somewhere.

Basically go physically prepared and try your hardest and you'll be fine and just soak up what you are taught.

Hope I helped ya out even though i Ramble.

I don't know what MOS that is for sure. If you're talking about 4066 some of my best friends in the Marine Corps had that job, and for the most part they loved it. If you know anything about computers, I'm sure the school wouldn't be too difficult. If you don't, the learning curve might be a little steep. But, the Marine Corps knows how to teach you. As much as their methods drove me crazy from time to time, they do work. You just have to be willing to put in the needed effort.

Definetely MOS 0656, Tactical Networking Specialist. If you are planning on becoming a data guy, you can expect to in the the G-6 shops, and i beleive you will enjoy it. As a 0151 hanging out with the 0600 Marines, its fun. They do everything from fixing PC to securing marine corps networks. its cool. sorry for my grammer.
