Air Station switches to Time Warner cable service
Pfc. Michael R. Stevens

MARINE CORPS AIR STAION MIRAMAR, Calif.(Aug. 1, 2007) -- Marine Corps Air Station Miramar officially switched cable service providers June 30.

After 10 years of service, the station made the move from Americable to its new provider, Time Warner Cable.

“The switch offers Marines on station a new provider with new and different capabilities,” said Jack Harkins, the deputy director of installation and logistics here.

Time Warner will be offering digital cable and Internet service in a variety of packages to on-base military housing and duty offices on station.

“We selected Time Warner because we needed to find an affordable service plan for the Marines while finding a suitable business plan for the Marine Corps,” said Harkins. “Priority is for Marines and sailors in the barracks and residents in family housing to be provided with a full-service cable and Internet provider.”

During the next few weeks, personnel will be on station to assist in the selection process and to answer installation and billing questions, according to Harkins.

For residents who were previously subscribed to Americable, no cancellation process is necessary.

These members will continue to have service until August 15, however, if they do not subscribe to Time Warner by then, they will lose cable.
