(WBST) As hundreds of area men and women continue to serve overseas, a local business is on a mission to show them we care.

Sunday the Midas in Warsaw held a car show as a way to collect donations for care packages to be sent to our fighting men and women.

Rhonda Elliot came up with the idea. Her son will be deployed to Iraq next year, so supporting the troops is a priority. In April, she started sending care packages to some Marines in Iraq. She says she was overhelmed by the response and wanted to send packages to more troops.

Sunday's car show drew hundreds of people who donated food, shampoo, books and more.

"You're thinking, 'All was it just a little package with not a whole lot of stuff in it' but, you know, to them it's just amazing the fact that they're having people that care," said Elliot.

"It brings tears to your eyes when you hear them say... how special it was... It was the first time they'd ever gotten anything," said Nancy Prickett, who donated some items.

Midas in Warsaw will be accepting donations during their regular business hours Monday through Saturday. It's also taking the names of other troops to send care packages to.
