What are we required to have memorized in boot camp? I know for sure we need to know the 11 general orders, and at least the first part of the Marine Corps Hymn. (should we know all of it?) But what else do we/should we know? The rifle creed? anything about our rifle? or what?

They will teach you everything. But if you want a step up, the 11 General Orders, Marine's Hymn and Rifle Creed are good.
POUND those general orders in and live by them.

Also 14 leadership traits and 11 leadership principles. Make sure you know that it is not the "Marine Corps Hymn," but the "Marine's Hymn." That hymn is for Marines personally. Everything else you will learn in boot.

We sounded off knowledge everywhere we went so if you dont have it all memorized by the time you ship, the DI's will make sure of it. I remember having 'tests' throughout the training cycle that our Kill Hat would give us. She would ask the question and we would write down the answer. We memorized acronyms for First Aid, Leadership.. everything. When it was time to go to the range we started memorizing the Rifle Creed and when it came close to graduation we started to learn the Lady Leatherneck song and we constantly practiced the Marines Hymn to perfect it for the graduation ceremony.
