U.S. Marine T.J. Hromisin, a Seton Catholic graduate, was severely injured while serving in Iraq, his aunt said.

“We are just really sick about it,” Marie Hromisin of Swoyersville said, noting that her nephew just arrived in the country last month. She said she didn’t know where he was stationed.

The family found out Tuesday he was out of surgery and en route to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for treatment of severe head wounds.

“They said it was critical head injuries. They really don’t know how bad it is,” said Marie Hromisin, 73. “He really needs lots of prayers.”

Seton Catholic High School Principal James Redington confirmed the school had prayed for Hromisin Tuesday afternoon after learning he was injured while serving in Iraq.

“He was a fine young man,” Redington recalled. “A very active student. He excelled academically.”

Redington didn’t know the full details of Hromisin’s injuries because Redington was off-site at a meeting Tuesday afternoon.

T.J. is the son of Jerome and Mary Ellen Hromisin.

If he stays in Germany for more than 36 days, the military will fly his family to be by the young Marine’s side.

“I don’t want his injuries to be that bad, but I hope he doesn’t have to go back,” his aunt said.
