After almost a year of being in the Pool, after signing up so many months ago, and after so many PT days with the New Philadelphia, Ohio Pool, I'm shipping in 16 days. The calendar's almost done, the scratches on the wall are almost at 365. On June 12, 2007, I will be entering MCRD Parris Island and being trained by the best to be the best for the rest of my life. I haven't been very active on these boards, but I still want to let everybody know that I'm leaving for my 13 weeks. I've seen quite a few people show up at the office for an interview with SSgt Davis (my recruiter), just as I did, and I've only seen a few of them come back. A couple of them coming back as Marines. One of them being an old friend from my 5th grade year in school, who shipped in February and returned recently. I'm not the absolute best in my pool, but I am one of the two that are shipping on June 12, before everybody else that's currently in the local pool. We're the largest pool in RSS Canton. And, assuming nothing goes horribly wrong, I will be a Marine in September.
I'm spending these last two weeks with my family, my friends, and last but certainly not least, my fiancée, Christina. I could have done a lot more to prepare myself more, but I didn't, a mistake I will make up for in these last two weeks. I will not fail, I will not let myself or the Corps down. Not only am I aiming at completing boot camp, but I also aim to come out as an Honor Graduate. I will pull my hardest, and I will return to you all as a Marine.
Also, something that some of you might find nice, my ship date is exactly one year from the date I was sworn into the Corps in MEPs.
Semper Fi.
