CBS Network Tells Godaddy.com – It’s A Go Daddy Go!

TV Network Approves Super Bowl Ad on 3rd Attempt

GoDaddy.com® will advertise in the Super Bowl® again this year. The CBS® television network today approved the third GoDaddy.com commercial submission. CBS initially rejected three creative concepts before approving a revised version of what Go Daddy® calls, “The Office.” So far, no one is revealing the storyline for the 2007 Go Daddy ad, but GoDaddy.com is known for its racy commercials.

In 2005, many considered GoDaddy.com to be the most effective commercial in Super Bowl history. The FOX® TV network pulled the controversial commercial after it aired just once, saying it wasn’t “appropriate.” The ensuing controversy resulted in an unprecedented 51.14 percent “Share of Voice,” according to multivision, inc., a company that measures advertising buzz. The ad, a parody of the Janet Jackson “malfunction” fiasco, helped coin the phrase “GoDaddy-esque.”

“GoDaddy-esque means our commercial is FUN, edgy and a just a touch inappropriate,” said Bob Parsons, GoDaddy.com CEO & Founder. “We believe many people expect entertaining ads during the game, we want to have fun and invite people to see more on the GoDaddy.com site. That’s what it’s all about.”

Last year, GoDaddy.com submitted 14 commercials before the ABC® TV network approved its spot. The ad drove massive traffic. Some 1.6 million more visitors went to GoDaddy.com on Super Bowl Sunday and the following day than visited the site on the previous Sunday and Monday. This year, GoDaddy.com has purchased three slots in the Super Bowl broadcast on CBS February 4th. So far, Parsons has disclosed that the commercial features Go Daddy Girl Candice Michelle. He says additional cast members include IndyCar® star Danica Patrick and stars from cable television’s popular chopper family. Paul Teutul, Senior and his sons Paul Junior and Mikey of reality television fame will have roles. Also slated to be in the spot, Internet celebrities like Diggnation’s Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht, along with Cali Lewis from GeekBriefTV.
