Free sneak previews at installation theaters this weekend

Selected military installations will get free sneak previews of the new films “We Are Marshall” and “Charlotte’s Web” this weekend, before they’re released in commercial theaters.

Each movie will preview at 34 military installations. Some bases, but not all, will show both.

The screenings will be shown Saturday on the selected Army and Air Force Bases; check local base Reel Time theaters for times. The screenings at Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard bases will be shown Saturday and Sunday, with times varying by base.

“We Are Marshall,” rated PG, is based on the true story of the 1970 plane crash that killed 75 members of the Marshall University football team and coaching staff, and efforts to rebuild the team and heal the community. Matthew McConaughey stars as the young coach who was determined to rebuild Marshall’s football program.

“Charlotte’s Web,” rated G, is the latest retelling of the cherished children’s story about two friends, Wilbur the Pig and Charlotte the Spider. An all-star case provides the voices of the various animals in the story, with Julia Roberts voicing Charlotte.

“Free screenings are a great opportunity to provide our military families a well deserved entertainment break,” said Roy Robertson, vice president of the AAFES food and theater division, in a statement announcing the screening of “We Are Marshall” at 21 theaters on Army and Air Force Bases. “This is the fifth preview screening Warner Bros. has provided this year, and we appreciate their ongoing support of the military community.”
