Local firefighters receive Marine Corp flag

A circle of giving involving firefighters and marines is now complete.
Lance Corporal Willard Truckenmiller made a special visit to the south trail fire department Thursday, where he delivered a Marine Corp flag that flew on a Humvee in Iraq.
The gift was just part of a thank you to South Trail Station #3 firefighters in South Fort Myers from the marines serving in the Second Military Police Battalion, Bravo Company.
The South Trail firefighters had sent much-appreciated gifts to those marines.
“A lot of marines don't get stuff sent over, family members don't send stuff, so it kinda lightened their day when they got their boxes,” said Truckenmiller.
The marines also sent a picture of their unit, and once it is properly boxed up for presentation, the fire department will also receive an American flag.
