Hi, I am about to sign my contract for intelligence specialist.. anyone start off in that MOS? I should be shipping out to boot at mcrdsd in jan '07 ..
What can you tell me about dam neck, va,?
Can't say much, actually anything, about 'Intelligence Specialist', been out of the Corps too long, bout 45 years...
However I just moved to Louisiana after 35 years in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where Dam Neck is. I take it thats where your MOS School will be. Its actually a small Navy Base not far from the resort section of Virginia Beach, the base itself borders on the Atlantic Ocean.

I spent 6 moths in the 0231 field due to my security clearance when i checked into regimental HQ with 8th Marines. I didnt go to Dam Neck, VA for school. It was all OJT (on the job training). I loved it though. It was a lot of reading, writting and summarizing stuff and then passing it up or down the chain depending on who needed it. It was also a lot of maps etc. Just think of this, if it involved Enemy, Weather or terrain in your area of interest then you will be involved in it and should know it. It was a great job with great hours. I am glad to be back as an 0352 though because i didnt get dirty enough as an 0231.
