THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes wew shining
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you Marine,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other check?
To My Church have you been true?"
The Marine squared his shoulders said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays
And at times, my talk was tough,
And sometimes I"ve been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Through, I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though, at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Marine waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now, you Marine,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's street,
You've done your time in Hell."

TO ALL THAT SERVE,
SEMPER FIDELIS

AND WHEN HE GOES TO HEAVEN.......

TO ST. PETER HE WILL TELL, ........

ONE MORE SOLIDER REPORTING SIR....

I SERVED MY TIME IN HELL......

Rest in Peace

Roger

For a friend of a friend:

I rise, I order my squad, (7, 6 and 2 1/2) Hand Salute, ONE! Another Marine arrived in heaven today.

And if you kids are lucky, and if I do MY job, perhaps you'll meet him someday.

TWO!

I am very sad to hear this. My prayers go out to Master Gunz's family.

I was fortunate enough to meet Bill. Last year after the Leatherneck reunion in DC, I met with Sixguns in Quantico. We were able to sit down and have lunch with Bill. Nomad was supposed to attend but he was sick as it was only a few days before he went into the hospital. Bill talked about everything from being in the Corps, his time with Nomad and even how he met his wife. A remarkable Marine indeed. I enjoyed that day very much. Semper Fi and Godspeed to you Master Gunz.

Semper Fi,
Jerry

Ricardo,

You have shown us all how we Honor our departed Brothers. No words reach these lips as I viewed your Tribute Site. My heart is sadden as we lose our Brothers, but it is again joyous as I know our Brothers are at the Pearly Gates joining all those who have pasted and are now watching over us............

Thank You for what you have done..........I do hope when your time comes, that there will be Marines to Honor you as you have Honored others........

Our Prayers and thoughts go out to their families. May God Bless and keep them all safe.

Sempers,

Roger and Ellie

Drifter another Marine, who's goes by "AppleEater" on the web.
Rendered MGunz Honors;
Saying all that needs to be said about MGunz, was that He was a MARINE, nothing else needs to be said.
AppleEater is one of the FEW, Iwo Jima and the Chosin Reservior in Korea.
During a CPX or Command Post Exercise aka a gathering of Marines.
AppleEater displayed a large tactial map of Iwo with all the beaches marked.
He was in support of Easy Company of the 28th Marines of the 5th Marine Division as the assualted Mt. Surbachi.
He stated that they lost sight of the assualt platoon.
Next he went on to describe the first flag raising, the small American flag.
Said that there was all kinds of noise, cheering and firing of weapons.
They never saw the second and most famous.
The one that the Iwo Jima Memorial is made after.
Many more weeks of fighting was left.
Of the six flag raisers of the second Flag raising, three were to die and three survived.
Hearing it from a Marine that was there, was something that one will never forget.
He was in tanks during WWII and Korea.
Would like to hear more from AppleEater on that march out to the sea.
So from this Marine, those words mean a great deal;
All that needs to be said,
"MGunz was a MARINE! nothing else needs to be said"
Drifter thanks for your kind words to this old jarhead.
Who tries to live his core values.
For once a Marine, Always a Marine!

Ladileathnek, I believe that he is being laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetary next to his bride of many years.
He spoke of her many times.
We went there while there was time during our CPX of 2001.
They are now reunited.

There's a saying; "If you wore the Marine Corps emblem you know the meaning, if you didn't than no words can describe it."
I was reminded of that, when I went looking for the complete name of a Marine.
That many called MSgt Budd with two "D's".
I ran into a post that MGySgt. William "Bill" Robinson USMC made on Sgt. George H. "Nomad" Morrow USMC passing in May of 2001.
Here an excerpt from that post;

MGunz farewll to Nomad;

Here's the first..
"After the worst has happened,
with nothing left to bear,
the sun continues rising with undiminished cheer,
and winds continue blowing,
and skies continue fair,
and hearts continue bearing the things they could not bear.

The second is by Stevenson..
Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.
This be the verse you grave for me
Here he lies where he longed to be.
Home is the Sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.

I'de like to add this one too.
It's the last verse of the epitaph
from Thomas' "Ellegy in a Country Church Yard".
Large was his bounty and his soul sincere.
Heaven did a recompence as largly sent.
He gave to misery, all he had, a tear.
And gained from heaven, T'was all he wished.
A friend.
Farewell and Semper FI Nomad, We'll meet again my friend.

Might we be so bold to borrow his farewell.
To bid our farewell to MGunz;

Here's the first..
"After the worst has happened,

and winds continue blowing,
and skies continue fair,
and hearts continue bearing the things they could not bear.

I forgot to say the reason for my seeking of MSgt Budd real name.
We had what came to be know as a CPX or Command Post Exercise to describe of gathering of many Marines from "TheFew.com" message board.
Sad to say that message board no longer exist.
I have a backup message board to a Momz message board.
I have dedicated that message board to three Marines that I came to know as some mighty fine Marines.
There been four CPX's since the first one in Beaver Falls, PA.
Mgunz wasn't able to attend the first one but he played a big part in the other three.
As I was preparing to leave for the first one, one of my sons said to me;
"Dad, why are you going hundreds of miles to meet men that you never knew?"
My reply;
"I know all these men because I once stood in the ranks with these fellow Marines!"
