Davids Girl

Hello everyone~
Well I joined this site a few days ago, and I've read a lot of the posts and some of the rules and other information and I've learned quite a lot of new things.
I'm a bit nervous to post my question since I've read some of the reactions to some posts, however I figure any well thought out question that is not asked, leaves a person ignorant and you only lose by not asking. I also wasn't sure where to post this, but was advised by someone helpful that this Forum was an ok place to do so.
I have a very good friend in the Marine Corps. He's been in for 7 years and is currently a SSgt serving in Iraq. I have learned so much from him and about the Corps that I never knew before. In fact, it wasn't that I was unaware of the Marine Corps and what our Marines do for us...but yeah, I kind of was... :(So now I'm having my horizons broadened and I'm loving it. :iwo:
To get to my question (yeah sorry, I can tend to be long winded...). My friend David was scheduled to be sent home with the men in his unit on the 5th of this month, then they got delayed for a week....and then they got delayed again...but this time for a month. I was crushed and heartbroken, I wouldn't be seeing my boys (I've gotten to know them all as I've been corresponding with them via email when they have time). So now they're not scheduled to come home until mid June.
This was a shock to me, I had no idea this could happen...I guess I didn't want to fathom it. My question...Does this happen alot? That the Marine Corps will delay them? I know how hard it's been for me, but I can't imagine how it's been on their morale and spirits in trying to get home to their wives, kids and families and to have that ripped out from underneath them twice.
I do know they chose to be there and they are doing their jobs and proudly serving, so I'm not b**ching about that. But how many times can a mans spirit handle being told, "Marine, you're going to stay one more month and you'll get home eventually." ?
Thanks for reading this and thanks for bearing with me. :)
