I have been out of the Corps since 1968. We were issued and qualified with the M-14, a very fine and reliable weapon. We used the M-1 through Camp Gieger as well. I never had the opportunity to fire the M-16 and beyond. How does the most recent weapons since the M-14 handle as far as dependability and accuracy?
Would like to hear from any Marines that went through Boot Camp at Parris Island, 1965, 2nd Battilion Platoon 285.
We were the last to use the 7 digit service numbers. Mine was 217 series.
We had 3 DI's that were relieved of duty from the Platoon, Nov-Dec 1965. I am wondering what happened to these DI's, they were really great Marines!
