New Senior Enlisted Advisor To Assist TMA With Beneficiary Issues

The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Dr. William Winkenwerder Jr., announced the selection of Chief Master Sgt. Donald P. Dahlheimer, U.S. Air Force as Senior Enlisted Advisor for Health Affairs. In this position, Dahlheimer will provide the Health Affairs (HA) and TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) leadership valuable insights on the day-to-day operations of TRICARE.
Dr. Winkenwerder said, "Chief Master Sergeant Dahlheimer brings a practical dynamic to the HA/TMA staff. We are fortunate to have someone with his extensive health care and leadership background advising us on current TRICARE issues at the local level."
A respected senior noncommissioned officer, Dahlheimer has over 27 years of service. Most recently, he served as the senior enlisted advisor to the assistant surgeon general for health care operations at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C. Dahlheimer has served as the superintendent of a medical aid station, medical flight, medical operations squadron and medical group.
His positions of increasing responsibility have prepared Dahlheimer for his new HA/TMA leadership assignment. In addition to working customer service issues, he will serve as "adjunct faculty" for "TRICARE University," TMA's online educational resource for TRICARE advisors; assist as liaison to his counterparts at the surgeons general and TRICARE regional offices; plan, develop and facilitate the senior enlisted panel at the annual TRICARE Conference; partner with internal and external beneficiary organizations; communicate efforts under way at TRICARE to beneficiary and professional groups; and provide advice to HA/TMA leadership particularly on enlisted and beneficiary issues.
His combination of experience, attitude and education-he has earned a master's degree in business administration from American Intercontinental University and a bachelor of science in health care management from Southern Illinois University-makes Dahlheimer the ideal candidate for communicating the needs of enlisted personnel to HA/TMA leadership.
