Happy Birthday my brother Marines. I remember well my 1st Birthday (1967), some bar in Oceanside while we were in staging. It was a Friday so they let us out of training early that day. After a little while in that bar I don't remember much afterwards.

On my 2nd Birthday our platoon was out in the middle of the Arizona when a chopper flew in with a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. 1st Real food in months! What was priceless was the looks on the faces of those mess cooks looking all over afraid of being attacked by the NVA. Of course we told them not to fear since they were with us, they were nervous as helll.

After having that feast we were all pretty motivated and most of us forgot all about our current surroundings as we felt special, but over time I realized that our beloved Corps was just fattening us up for what was ahead of us - Mead River.
