It's not easy being a Marine. Being in the training pipeline is just a process that you will eventually get through. Once you enter the fleet, you will look back and tell yourself it was worth it. We're here anytime you feel the need to vent your frustrations as many of us have experienced the same feelings during our enlistments in the Marine Corps. Probably our most famous motto is, "Hurry up and wait."

it could be arranged for you to recieve a shipment or
two with your drinking water shipped to you
in recycled 5 gallon fuel cans....

In case you don't know what the recycled 5 gallen fuel cans mean, in the Nam they used to ship water out to us in 55 gallon drums that had in the past been used to transport diesel fuel. When filling your canteen from these drums you had to dunk it down deep to escape the slick on top, but it always tasted like diesel. Just saying.

Youll be fine, trust me. The fleet is so much better than the school house. You still have all the BS that everybody hates, but you are treated like an adult until you give somebody a reason to not treat you that way. Just keep your head up and push forward.

Russ consider yourself lucky please
-for a number of reason -
1, they didn't charge deposit for the drums
2, they didn't make you sign for it
3, they didn't use empties from A/orange-
Thanks Ed, you make sense out of what I always thought was senseless. You've make my day with your clarity from your brightly shining light of wisdom.

Well, there is obviously a change in attitude with new Marines these days. After I finished ITR (that would be the equivalent of MCT to boots), I was sent to truck driver's school. The schoolhouse was full and the bunch of us were divvied up and assigned to one of two places, either the Area Guard or mess duty. I got mess duty. No new classes were forming for a month. It's a *****, but oh well.

I spent two weeks on mess duty and had to get my father to die so I could get out of it. I got back from emergency leave just in time to join my scheduled class otherwise I would have been on mess duty for God knows how much longer as my class was the last one until after Christmas/New Years.

My point is, waiting for your class to form happens all of the time and has happened many, many times in the past. I expect it will continue into the future. Stuff happens. Embrace the suck. Be glad they don't have mess duty any more.
