I just started bodybuilding and I was wondering if big guys who pack tons of muscle and strength would be rejected from the Marines. Iv'e heard that you can't pack too much muscle weight because that'll hinder running?

Weird question I know.

No. Two of my close friends were BB while on AD. They both competed and were given time from our unit to train. You better be able to run though.

If you are trying to enlist, it will hinder you. You have to meet the height/weight standards to enlist and ship to bootcamp. There is no way around it.

A lot of Marines lift heavy and consume vast quantities of protein shakes and then have trouble meeting ht/wt standards because they are not lean enough. I've seen too many good Marines forced out and/or not promoted because they were obsessed with BB but could not lose the extra fat that comes along with consuming the calories necessary to pack on muscle. Whether you agree or disagree with the ht/wt standards it is what it is.
