Quick question for any Marines who can explain to me more about the field I'm going in. My name is Poolee Forster, I leave for MCRD Parris Island, SC 20131609. My MOS that I am being contracted with is Combat Engineer. I understand the basics of the job but if anyone can help give me some information regarding the daily life with that MOS in the fleet, and what MCT and MOS school will be like. What different fields can I end up in, because i know i am not guarenteed an actual field, I only get a certain field guaranteed.Oh yeah, if it helps I will be Active duty, I'd don't expect a reply because this post is old, and I just made this account, so it will not let me create a new post, but if I get a reply, thanks in advance for the help - Nick

Better to start with the basics...."Every Marine A Rifleman!"

Thanks for the reply sir. That's what I like to hear though, I would be a very motivated rifleman! Basics are the best

Sweetpea.,......

We aren't going to GOOGLE it for yor you.
We aren't going to hand it to you on a PLATTER.
We aren't going to spoon feed you...

Search the site..
IF you don't know how to search,,,ASK how do i search.

All the Marines on here know you are speaking of the 1300 field IF you are
speaking of Engineers...

the more you read on this site, the better you'll know the subject...

and there are hundreds of Engineers on here...

Do us proud , Sweetpea

In no disrespect sir, I did google information, that is how I came across this site. I was not asking for it to be given to me on a platter, I was simply requesting help from current or former Marines who were in the 1300 field, and what their experiences are/were. I didn't think I had to google it if could speak directly to a Marine. I was also searching on this site, that is how I found this older post about combat engineer. Would there be an easier way to get information on this site, sir? Thanks in advance for a reply - Poolee Forster

you could end up an engineer(1371), bulk fuel(1391), heavy equipment operator(1345), or a few others that are out there.

you'll spend your days PM'ng(preventative maintaining) equipment, inventoring equipment, along with sitting around smoking cigarettes drinking energy drinks like everyone else in the Marine Corps.

I was not an engineer but have been in a couple different combat engineer units (admin section). I was with Delta Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division (FMF) at Camp Pendleton,...

I dont know much about the daily grind of a combat engineer,I was in MotorT.If you get off PI as a Marine you will go to Camp Geiger for MCT then to Camp Johnson for follow on training.Camp Johnson is about 2 miles from Camp Geiger. So you will know your way around the Jackson ville area real well.Good Luck Poolee.

You haven't earned the title of Marine.
You don't even know what MOS your're going to end up with ...
Nothing says you have to be sent to a formal school to learn an MOS....

IF you are waiting for Marines on this site to personaly tell you
all you wish to find out....You've got a long , long , long wait in store.

Learn how to use the SEARCH bubble on the top right side of the page.

Now, SCREW.
