Hello Marines,

I was recently at MEPS for the Marine Corps hoping on Joining the reserves and then eventually becoming an Officer. However to my shock I was Diagnosed with Scolosis Im 19 And never had back problems my entire life and PT heavily on a regular basis and have never had a problem. Upon looking at Xray's my back pretty much looks like a S, Ive been told I may have a shot at a Waiver but my Parents are on me about getting surgery for it as they believe it will cause serious problems later in life and better to correct it now. Im waiting to see a specialist early next month however I am currently contemplating my options. Would Surgery pretty much end my hopes of earning the title of Marine or As long as there a no large rods or pins and I have full range and I am not hindered after my recovery will I still be able to Join. My Recruiter is out of town schooling to become a Gunny and the Recruiters Assistant in his place is rather unsure of my entire situation.

Thank you In Advance.

Either way you will need a waiver if you decide to have the surgery or not.....and the Marines here have no idea on whether a waiver would be approved or not.
Take it one step at a time and see what the specialist has to say, and with deciding on whether to have surgery or not, it wouldn't hurt any to get a second opinion.

So My Lumbar Scolosis is over the defined limit, my question is if that is Unwaiverable, Or Ill have a shot at a waiver even if it is remote.

As I already mentioned, the Marines here have no idea if a waiver will be approved or not.
