Former Artillery Marine into NYPD

Hello gents ( Marines and Docs ), I recently found out about this website and was absolutely delighted, nice to see a community like this for us. :) As the title says, I recently left the Corps and I'm looking to staying with the Sheepdog lifestyle and go into law enforcement. Searching through the forums, the only solid info I got is that 1: us Jarheads are pretty highly sought after in the LE community as; 2. every PD is different...

I'd like to know if there are any members of the NYPD around here, and what kind of organization it is, what is the culture like? How serious are they about marksmanship (I wanna eventually become an firearms instructor).

Thanks a lot for your time, I know you guys ( Marines and Docs ) probably get questions like this pretty frequently.
