I turn 17 in December and with any luck ill graduate 2013, if not then ill graduate a week after I turn 18. I cant really talk to a recruiter because my step dad is phycho about stuff like that.
I want to be a Marine and I will be one. I have not taken my asvab yet but I am confident that I will do well on it... very well.
I want to be a Fighter Pilot, but a couple of things stand in my way. First off, I am not sure if females are even able to. Second, I need to grow another 2 inches according to my MCJROTC MI. And lastly, I need lasic, I will get it, but thats still.... yeah.
So with advice from the man I consider my father (former Marine himself, served 26 years) I am going to make a list of what I want most to whatever. Kind of like plan A, plan B, etc. The only problem is, is that I haven't been able to find jobs that are for Female Marines, and I don't want to be behind a desk or a "glorified gas pumper" (Army recruiters MOS she had) I want something that will give me some kind of combat experience, yet I am female so I don't know if that is even possible. I want to fly or jump out of planes or something. I just haven't had the oppurtunity to talk to someone so I have no clue what is out there.
Help?

well if you want to fly then you'll need to go to college, graduate with a bachelors, go through some sort of commissioning program, and hope you get a flight/air contract.

And don't judge the MOS based on what you think they might do. I am a 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist by MOS aka. "glorified gas pumper" as you put it. I recently got home from Afghanistan, was part of a security platoon and a PSD team. I spent about 95% of my deployment outside the wire in "combat" and getting blown up by IED's. We had a few females(motor t) that were in the logistics battalion we worked with and they had seen more action than most male Marines.

As far as I am aware the only thing that females are not allowed to do is be in a combat arms MOS ie. 03xx/infantry, 18xx/tanks and tracks, 08xx/artillery, etc...

I am sorry if I offended you, but the Army recruiter made it sound alot more, I have no idea what the word would be for it. She just... I don't know how to explain it.
I want to go to college. My step dad has made that near impossible, as far as getting a scholarship and I do not want to be neck high in debt before I am even 21. So I was planning on going to college through the GI Bill then going to OCS school then hopefully flight school.
My secondary plan was being the person who disabled the IED's. I am not sure if I could do that either.
