I have a stupid question. if you complete MCMAP courses while serving in the NAVY and have the documentation prior to joining the Marines do you keep your belt rank or start all over?

Typically, you have to earn everything IN the Corps for it to be recognized. But that may only be initially. In recruit training, for example, they won't give two chits about it. Don't mention it would be my best advice to you, just kick some butt and lead by example - not by telling. Once you get to your permanent unit in the fleet, then you should provide your training NCO all your documentation. Hopefully, they will care, but it wouldn't surprise me if they told you you have to do it again.
That's just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice i guess it will be fun doing the courses over again.
i wasnt planning on saying anything at basic, didnt want to end up being on the radar.

There you go, that is the attitude.
Look at it from the perspective that you WILL learn something new and/or refine what you already know.

Wait until you go to the MCMAP pit during the Crucible after 2 hrs of obstacle course that was followed by 3 hrs of combat endurance course.....youll be broke the **** off

well hopefully by then the techniques are engraved in my brain and i can do them while being in auto gear from exaustion.

Some navy guys were telling me that they had the option to train in MCMAP and they could even wear the belt... the docs can wear our uniform.. why not let them train in our programs?
- This might only apply to Corpsmen or Navy guys stationed near Marines

Before MCMAP or the predecessor was LINE training (not sure what the acronym stands for but i could google it) Any way, I used to hate doing line training. Hate, hate, hate. Because you, or we did it so much, especially the year I was in Greece because our training NCO was a LINE Instructor.
Fast forward a few years to when I was working for MCSF teaching CQB. A few of us Instructors had a side gig at a local night club called Chevy's. Now since closed or renamed, but I am still friends with the owners today via FB. We used to work the door, checking ID's and throwing clowns out, good stuff.
One night when I was up front at the door I saw another "doorguy" (who happened to be a Navy Diver) escorting a guy out -- seems he had too much to drink and couldn't keep his hands off the talent (It was Hawaiian tropic bikini night :) While I was watching him do all the work I noticed the dirtbag had his hands in his pockets. One thing we always taught at CQB school was to look for the hands -- they will tell you a lot about a target/person. So as Big Mike was escorting this dirtbag out of the club I saw him start to pull his hands out of his pocket and I spied a very quick glimpse of something shiny in his hand.
I didn't think I just reacted.
Without even realizing it the LINE training I hated was about to pay off. I grab the guys hand as he was coming out with a knife, broke his wrist (not literally - just turned his palm in), and took him down to the ground where I put him in an arm-bar.
It was over in seconds. We called the poh-poh, and they put him in bracelets and off he went.
You'll never hear me speak bad about the repetitiveness of LINE training. :)
If you take the time to learn it, or even if you don't take the time but are immersed in it anyway -- it works when you need it.

I mean as you progress through the belts it gets better but in bootcamp they turn it into something that last for hours that you just hate doing. I'm ready to move up to the next belt.
During MOS school my instructors, who are all black belts, would show us some cool things from MCMAP.

You WILL have to do MCMAP when you go through boot camp. That's not an option.
However, once you get to MOS school or the Fleet, you should be able to give your S3 (training admin) the paperwork from the training you got before. My guess is that they'll tell you to test out; if you're good, then they'll give it to you.
Of course, if you lost the paperwork, you're probably SOL.

That makes sense why you would do a lot of it at school.
