I would like to start this thread by stating that this is my first post. I do not have much time on a computer so I admit that I have not read the stickies or searched for a thread with a similar question to the one I am about to post.
I would also like to thank anyone who replies to this post in advance for any information provided.
I am working on a project for my Classical Studies 314 course at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. I have decided to compare the United States Marine Corps to the elite Spartan soldiers of Classical Greece with a focus on concepts, mentality, ideals, and training that the marines may have taken from the ancient city state. In other words, is there any real meat behind the comparison of the USMC as the modern equivalent to the Greek Spartans?
Any personal information or experienced from knowledgeable marines, or suggested reading would be greatly appreciated.
