I am 16 and a senior in high school. I was wondering if i'd be able to join the DEP because i want to enlist the day i turn 17. I will already be out of high school by then and just really want to get the ball rolling now. I searched around already and couln't find the same problem.
Thanks

No you can't but, it would be a good idea to contact a local recuiter and meet with him/her and get involed with other poolees and functions at the station.

By federal law (10 U.S.C., 505 (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode10/usc_sec_10_00000505----000-.html)), the minimum age for enlistment in the United States Military is 17 (with parental consent) and 18 (without parental consent).

I was in the same boat as you. I depped in the same week I turned 17. Youll just have to wait and see if you can get a sooner ship date. Good luck

There are other options to get you prepared, though, such is JROTC or Young Marines. Go to http://youngmarines.com/ and see if there is a unit nearby.
A young man I know who ran cross-country from a nearby high school was in Young Marines and as a result received PFC out of boot camp.
