Any marine that has or had the MOS 5811 please pass on some information...

1) Where will my job training be located?
2) Scale of 1 to 10 how difficult would you rate the job training and why?
3) I will be a reservist, so what will I be doing for drill on the weekends?
4) I have heard rumors that marines with the MOS 5811 can potentially be apart of a sort of K9 unit. Any information on that?

Thank you!

1: Ft Leonard Wood, Mo. OR Lackland AFB, Texas. Not sure where MP school is these days, but the Army trains MP's at Lost in the woods, the Air Force at Lackland. One of the two.

2: About a 4. It's not rocket science by any means. You are NOT a 'real police'.

3: Learning your job, initially. Depending on the unit, maybe doing some traffic control, or access control. Unless you are near a 'big' base, you won't be doing law enforcement work. Chances of that are exactly slim/none. All base Law Enforcement (Domestics, traffic stops, etc etc) is now being handled by civilian Law
Enforcement. MP's take care of prisoners, traffic control, CP security, etc.

4: Used to be, you could. Nowadays, not sure. See 3, above.

Your profile is a little thin. Where do you live and where is the unit you would be joining?

Also, if your ship date is in May 2011, you're late. :scared:

Zulu,

My reserve unit will be located in Dayton, OH and my ship date is March, 5th 2012. What do you mean by late?

Profile is MUCH better. Read the posted ship date on your profile and all will be revealed.

I figured you meant 2012, but I had to yank your crank.

Youll go to fort leonard wood,mo. Most likely youll be a field mp. I graduated earlier this year, my class and the 3 previous classes I saw graduate had about 90 percent of he active duty go be field MPs. All MP reservists are field MPs. Keep in mind if your going to be an MP your probably going to be in the field.

In basic basic terms your infantry that drives lol, but they operate mostly from armored vehicles, do convoy route security, handling detainees, training foreign police things like that.
