View Full Version : An MOS school question. Just a quick one

I'm currently awaiting a tattoo waiver, until it comes through I'm not able to swear in unfortunately. Anyway, for a while now I've been thinking that I want to get into Aviation Maintenance, just sounds like I'd enjoy it, plus my ASVAB score/line scores are more than good enough. My question was, where would my MOS school be? I know where Bootcamp and MCT will be(Pendelton and 29 Palms)... but I've heard that my MOS school is in Pensacola, FL and I've also heard it's in 29 Palms(as well as MCT)-and that it's terrible because it's in the middle of nowhere so there's nothing to do(which means I'll be in the exact same situation I'm in now anyway), I've researched it, got a lot of mixed findings. Any Marines able to give me some helpful insight? Thank you.

P.S. Also, are there any extra qualifications I'd need(swimming, etc)? I didn't get a chance to read the contract, I'm not color blind or lagging physically at all. Again, thank you

First off, MCT is not at 29 palms. Second, it's not that bad of a place. It's only a couple hours from Vegas and Los Angeles and there's plenty to do on the base itself.

MCT not at 29 palms? hmm. guess I misunderstood/was misinformed. no worries, thanks much. I've just been told numerous different things(I know I don't have a choice, but it'd be nice to have an idea), but input from Marines who know/have been there is very valuable and much appreciated.

pendleton if you're west coast, luh-jern/geiger if you're east. unless you're a chick in which case you go east either way
