I have a few questions concerning deployments. How do the Marines deploy people specifically in the Logistics career fields?
Do they deploy whole units or people individually?
If individually how do they determine who goes?
How long is a “normal” deployment?
How far in advance do you normally know when you are deploying?

Thanks

...see where I'm going with this?

Just plan on being ready to go at anytime for at least 6 months. Seriously though, when you say “deploy” do you mean to like the middle east? There is always traveling to be done in the Marine Corps. Doesn’t matter if we are at war or not. You could be stationed stateside and have to go Japan for 6 months on a UDP, or you could go ride a boat around the Mediterranean for 7 months on a MEU. Or, yes, you could go to Afghanistan for 7, 8, 9, 12 months. You might know 6 months in advance, you may know 6 weeks in advance. I knew someone who knew about 6 hours in advance. Typically you will go wherever you unit goes.
