When we go to the range on our weekly visit, I frequently take along an all-matching and complete Type 99 Japanese Arisaka which a Marine brought back from Okinawa in 1945. Interestingly, he cleaned rifle and bayonet and parked the rig in a closet and that's where it remained until his death in 2008. Unfortunately, the picker who found it for me didn't get his name. In a way I guess it's ironic that Marines of later generations are still able to shoot and enjoy the prized possessions of their predecessors. We haven't shot it at over 300M, but it's still very accurate with modern non-corrosive ammo. I've heard that its airplane sights were effective, but the monopod must have gotten in the way in hand-to-hand combat.
