Martial Arts

Just curious, are there any other martial artists out there? I have a black belt in Tang Soo Do. I'm curious about what others do. I'm also interested in hearing from those who study Marine Corps Karate. Having talked to a SSgt. Homa who is a Marine Corps Karate Instructor of Instructors, it sounds like it was based in Tang Soo Do. Tang Soo Do, the Korean Military Martial Art, is closely related with Tae Kwan Do.

Geejuz, Rocky. Awhile back , in the late sixties, early seventies I was a student, in the San Francisco Bay Area, of Chief Instructor Rick Alemany, who was taught by Ralph Castro, who was taught by Ed Parker. Most of my instructors, at the time were from the "Islands" with lineages going back to Professor Chow, Kajukembo, Shorin-Ryu. Met Sid Asuncion, Gosei Yamaguchi, Richard Kim, Seiyo Oyata and a whole host of others back in the day when Karate and the AAU were trying to be part of the Olympics. Small world.

I am hoping to start looking into other Martial Arts but I want to become a Sergeant and black belt in MCMAP first. I've been looking at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai for others. Does any one participate in the MMA clubs that the Marine Corps has? One of my MCT instructors, Sgt Perez, was but didn't disclose a lot of information about it.

Gary that's unbelievable.
That's my background.
James Mitose to Chow to Ed and Nick then me.
I used to travel the Tournament Circuit about 10 years after I got out of the Corps as a Head Judge in Kumite because My Best Bud was Kung-Fu Grand Master Sifu Glen Hart from Massachusetts President and Owner of the PKL/AKL of America.

Small world is right!!!

I have a Boxing background also that maybe I'll share later.

That's why i don't have my Real last name on My profile. No Autographs Please

I'm a black belt user in MCMAP. You do not have to be a Sgt, as you can see. Their is a waiver for Cpl, but it takes forever to get approved and you gotta be on point and whatnot. It's one of the first things people comment on when they see pages from my MOL.
