Is This True, Max Enlistment Age For Usmc Is 39?
I was just informed that the maximum enlistment age for the USMC has been raised to 39 as of last week. Has anyone heard anything similar? Just curious.

This is all I have found so far!!! I will keep looking!
------------------------------------------------------- One would think that age would be a simple category. One is either old enough, or too old, right? Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way. By federal law (10 U.S.C., 510), the minimum age for enlistment in the United States Military is 17 (with parental consent) and the maximum age is 35 (Note: Congress changed this to age 42 in 2006). However, DOD policy allows the individual services to specify the maximum age of enlistment based upon their own unique requirements. The individual services have set the following maximum ages for non-prior service enlistment:

prior serves i was told by a recruiter is 35 but time in grade also counts but as for MARINE CORPS home page it says 27yrs old but i graduated with a guy 30yrs old in 1990 he said he got a wavier for his age.So if you only have a yr in an your 38yrs old your chances are slim if not impossible but anythings possible good luck.

Hey thanx guys, but perhaps I didn't clarify what I said. According to what I was told it happened within THE LAST WEEK. It took the Army's website nearly 2 weeks to update after they raised their max enlistment age. All the info. you guys have presented I've already looked at. If the local recruiter's office were open today (Memorial Day) I'd call him to find out for sure.
At any rate, thanx for the help. ![]() |

According to the enlistment regulations (if i read it right) is with age waiver or prior service, you have to be able to complete 20 years by the age of 55.

Too old?
I'd like to pose this question... With the above post in mind...How many of you devil dogs that are at the "max age" of 39 or older, would reenlist with the Army? Just so you could serve your country again!!!!
I just turned forty myself and am looking at getting back in, since I'm too old for the Corps.

(I just turned 33 in boot camp, and he was the only one who knew it. I think he sorta liked me. )I just turned 39 yesterday, so there may still be hope - you just have to talk to a Marine Corps recruiter who will go to bat for you. If you are prior service in either active duty or reserve, it will help you a lot. Sgt gw

I would not enlist in the Army just to serve my country again. If I was not married with children I would re-enlist to be in the Marine Corps.
