Future performances of Silent Drill Platoon

Hi Marines and forum members,
I was just wondering if anyone knows when and where the next Silent Drill Platoon performance will be. For months now, I have been captivated by the awesome show they put up in the video I saw in the link below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KGIf8a21bw

The ideal place for me to see their performance would be at MCRD San Diego, but how often do they come down here, and if they do so, is their performance opened to the public?

Many thanks, and I wish all the Marines and everyone else a safe, happy 4th of July!!

Speedbird - if you ever get to see the whole show..............it will be the most awesome thing you have ever seen!

I've seen them a couple of times over the years and, if I hadn't already been a Marine, I would have signed up the very next day. Those guys just RULE in my book! They are truely one of the most motivating selling points for the Corps in my book.

Phantom Blooper, thank you so much for all that info!! I'm sure others who are inspired by the Silent Drill Platoon will be grateful in seeing that schedule. If I should ever have a conversation about the military with my friends or family, they will be among one of the first topics I will discuss.

Marine84, the Silent Drill Platoon definitely has aspired me to become a Marine in these last several months. Given the busy load in my current school schedule and what the next few years of my life will entail, it's going to be somewhat difficult for me to find an appropriate time to enlist in the near future as a reserve Marine. I just hope that one day I'll be able to make it all work out at the end (and hopefully before I reach the upper age limit for enlistment). For now, just the thought of the Silent Drill Platoon and the Marines will suffice in keeping me motivated and going through a long work day. They make me want to instill further self-discipline and perserverance; they are my role models asides from other influential people I know.

Those hard charging motivating Marines are a model of perfection and precision. The same spirit we carry into battle for the past 231 years! I am humbled to be a small part of it. Dang I got to watch that video again!

Kopp - YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!

I got one up on that video though speedbird - the last time I saw them in 03 - I recorded the WHOLE show that night and when that the WHOLE BN came out from each side of the barracks, I cried like a baby - all you see is ALL of them taking the same step, same stride, same movement and ONE click as the butts of those weapons hit the deck - THEY WERE AWESOME!

Kopp - can't say it enough man - you guys are AWESOME and I LOVE the WHOLE BN!

Cpl. Kopp, I PMed you.

To Cpl. Kopp or whoever else is a Marine, how often does the Silent Drill Platoon changes its choreography of their marches and rifle spins, and who gets to decide on that choreography?

Thanks again!

That was pretty sick when the guy threw his rifle and saluted.

Hey Speedbird-- The sequence changes annually around November.. that is when we hold Silent Drill School for Marines who want to try out for a spot on the team. This year we started with 57 and only kept 20 of them!! SDS goes from November to February each year. That is when the Drillmaster of the platoon teaches his sequence to the platoon. The entire drill is from the imagination and creativity of the Drillmaster.
