Just took an IST today at the Pool Function:

    1.5 mi: 9:41
    P/U: 20
    Crunches: 107

A tad bit better than last time. Working for that sub-9-minute (sub-18-minute 3 mi) run time.

    Ship Date: 20120723 MCRDPI

    FIRST IST SCORES ( 20110929):
    rUN: 17:50

    RECENT IST SCORE ( 20120507)

Still trying to get my run time down, and my crunches and FAH numbers up But i have some time to train, I have until 20121015 to MCRDPI By then, I hope to be doing VERY well

Your so right, increasing your overall weekly mileage has helped me more than anything in cutting my run time.

    First IST 20090702
    FAH: 12
    Crunches: 22
    Run: +23:00

    Last IST 20120514
    FAH: 60
    Crunches: 89
    Run: 11:59

I was just barely 16 years old when I started training at my depot - now I'm very nearly 19 years old and I leave in 18 days!
I tell you trying to join the Marine Corps has been the hardest, most stressful, most liberating thing I have ever done in my life - (with the exception of raising my daughter.)
But I wouldn't do it any other way in a million years
(However, having a kid in the DEP is not something I would recommend to ANYONE male or female - It is a VERY tough process to get back into the program and; having done it myself, I'm warning you DO NOT GET YOURSELF OR ANYONE ELSE PREGNANT WHILE IN THE DEP! Accidents happen, but be careful Poolees!)

    First IST 20120511

    Pull ups: 4
    Crunches: 65

    Second IST 20120516

    Pull ups: 11
    Crunches: 70

I have less than two weeks to further improve and I WILL get my run time down to sub nine, max pull ups and max crunches. Failure is not an option..

How did you improve that much in 5 days? Were you just not trying on your first IST?

This might sound funny but when I first took the test, I was really nervous and I guess scared (sweaty/shaky hands). Of what, I don't know but probably the fear of failing and that really made everything hard.

Two days before my first IST, I had never ran. Could barely go thirty seconds. But my recruiter told me it was mind over matter and I just ignored the pain. Since the 11th, I just kept doing my own ISTs everyday. How I improve more and more on running is ex: I'll have a run buddy tag along and run with me. I'll run until I start puking/getting massive cramps. When I start to slow down, he will get behind me and push so that I don't stop. If I tell him five miles, he will make me do ten. (I gotta say, the high after running is awesome and I have the worst shin splints in the world)
but yeah... I really only wanted to work on my endurance but speed comes along with that like a bonus.

Make sure you take care of those shins. Google shin stretches. Shin splints will screw you over BIG time! Take this from a guy that does parkour. I haven't really parkoured extensively in a few weeks and my calves/legs still feel it.
