Honors got nothing to do with it bro! the world will never give them their due, its just not in them to give.
After being out for so long and living amoungst them I have learned one thing.
An old friend of mine who was somewhat of an older mentor once told me, after I got upset that as a young Marine we werent getting our fair share of honors for what we did and went through for the free world.
He told me the following words and I find them more true today than I did then by virtue of observation of the species in emass.
"THE WORLD DOSENT WANT TO BE SAVED, THEY JUST WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!" They will never understand the reasoning we do what it is we do, or have done on thier behalf.
