Looks like we ate some of the same dirt Bro.
I was at Marine Barracks Subic Bay 77/78, around the time you were doing the Westpac thing.
I was with Delta 1/2 and then Weapons 2/6 at Lejeune 78/80 and went down to Cuba for that little game time late 79.

Last series to graduate in 1985. 1st Battalion, B Company, Platoon 1106. Dec 20th, Winter Greens (wool) and it was 90 degrees on the Grinder. To let some of the younger Marines know how small the Corps is, SgtMaj J.J. Johnson retired on that day (made for a very long ceremony with several dropping out) and when it was over my father informed me that he had been senior to the SgtMaj when they were both on Okinawa in 1954/55... my dad was a Cpl.

Hey 0351...
Yep, sounds like we ate someof the same dirt. Went down to Getmo on the Nassau (LHA4), during her shakedown they said. I think I remember the A/C going haywire, and they handed out more blankets in the troop compartments (oh, the hardships we endured) lol
3/6 got their first NMUC for that trip, did 2/6 get one also???
I had a buddy that I think was in weapons 2/6, Griffith was an 0351 (106 recoiless in those days). Ring any bells??
Sempers to ya bro !!!!
