Hi, anyone who would know how to find out about other marines that were discharged from MCRD San diego in 1986 to 1988 for any kind of lower legs medical condition, please let me know. I have been on disability since back then and need to find out if anyone else had some of the same injuries. Thank you e-1 Semperfi

You were definitely one of those who wrote history and created the true tradition of what it means to be a U. S. Marine. Semper fi!

I was with Ammunition Company 2nd FSSG from approx September 77 to November 78 when I EASed. Had a couple of TADs stuffed in there. Spent 3 months as a Brig Chaser for JAG, 3 months as 2nd FSSG Deserter Clerk, and 3 months as NCOIC for the Ammunition Depot. We were neighbors. SF

We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on? [Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the the Joint Chiefs of Staff; during the assault on Grenada, 1983]

    Units I was attached too

I joned the Corps in April of '63 on the 120 day delayed enlistment program. I entered Boot Camp in July of '63. At MCRD San Diego. And ITR waas at CAmp Pendleton Ca. I got 20 days leave and then I was ordered to VMGR-352 El Toro Santa Ana Ca. I was duty driver for the Squadron, worked in the office as file clerk, was postal clerk, honor guard, wheels watch with crash crew, I fought brush fires in L. A. I volenteered for 1st Marine Brigade Hawaii. I left San Diego on the U.S.S. Breckenridge in April of 1965, arrived in Hawaii three days later. My unit shipped out to Okinawa and I followed them for 27 days on the ship, we arrived in Okinawa spent 5 days there then I flew to Da Nang aboard a C-130 arrived May of 1965, flew by H-34 helicopter to Chu Lai and joined C Company 3rd Motor Transport Battalion. drove duce an a half for about 5 month straight hauling bombs off the causeway to the ammo dump, and also to troops in the field hauling ammo and C-rations. Then in January of '66 we transferred up to Da Nang and joined the Battalion. I was bored so I volenteered for convoys to Phu Bai. And on those convoys I met enemy action firing my .50 caliber machine atop my duce an a half, I wast told I am a hero for staying with the gun. I was offered a bronze star, but told em I was just doing what I was told to do. I got wounded and never received my purple heart.

After that I left in May of '66 got 20 days leave and ended up at Transport Company 8th Motor Transport Battalion Camp Lejeune N.C. I was duty driver there and volenteered to go to school and learn the Marine Corps personnel manual and become Cheif Administration Clerk for the Company. I was honorably discharged in June of 1967. I got busted one rank for disorderly conduct but gained my rank back passing the IG inspection. I would of made E-5 had I not gotten busted. Oh Well......
