Recruiting people to get your PFC before Boot

Ok, I have been talking to everyone I know! and I'm getting the same excuses over and over. Can anyone give me some ideas on finding people to recruit? Maybe some tips on how you did it?

    >Have you been getting the "I'm too crazy, I might get addicted to shooting people" excuse? It's either that or "No, I'm planning on going to college some day" >

yea all the time, they look at me like im crazy for enlisting and why are you asking me. Look at it this way though I figure 1 outta of 30 might join so you just have to keep asking. Hell I just went to the mall and every person I thought that was 30 or younger asked them and gave them my recruiters card. I got screwed outta of my PFC for my college credits so I gotta get refferals but got 1 and 1 more to go. Just keep asking bro.

My usual way is to ask people what they are doing after high school, if they say college, then I tell them that the Marines have multiple college assistance programs. If they something else, then I suggest the Marines to them. I have a folder with all of the pamphlets and little moto books that I got from my recruiter before and after I DEP'd in and I pretty much just let them skim through it. Usually they never give a solid answer, so I give them my recruiters card. If it's someone I know well, then I offer to take them to my RSS for awhile to speak the recruiter himself.

I already have 2 potential referrals, I'm just waiting for them to go to MEPS. But you really just have to tell them straight and don't push it. That's my usual plan. Hope it gives some ideas.

I have one referral so far and ship to boot camp in 9 days.

As long as you get the 2 collective BEFORE you graduate boot camp you can still get PFC.

I am just hoping one of my friends turns around and doesn't go the National Guard route like most of my friends ugg.

That's why they say "The Few The Proud The Marines"! Everyone would join the Army. But why not the Marines? The excuses I hear..."Basic is to long to hard" It's Boot Camp you idiot! Grow some nuts and join a real branch with Good History! The Best of the Best!

By the way it looks like some of you are doing good I'm working on it. But if you graduate top of the class for Boot Camp you will be promoted. I'm Enlisted as E-2 Because of College and my GPA. But my goal is Graduate Boot Camp top of the class and be promoted to Lance Corporal.
To be the best you can't ever give up and give your all. Memorize the 11 General Orders, Marines Ranks, Navy Ranks, The Rifles Creed, History of the Marine Corps, About the M16 A2 Rifle, and kick your self in gear until Boot Camp and push yourself to the limit. Once you reach your limit of giving up keep going. Marines don't quit.
    Good Luck guys.

Be upfront and don't be afraid to seek out strangers. I got my 2nd referral (in theory, sending him up to MEPS shortly) by being direct and not giving up. You will find the types that just need that tiny little push. Set up an appointment with them and your recruiter and let your recruiter do their job. Do that with as many people as you can, and you will soon have your two referrals.

i keep getting, "im joining the airforce" or "i dont want to die" excuses. Even when i try to explain most people just try to escape the conversation and shut their minds.

But then i remember how it should be hard to get recruits because if it were easy, it wouldnt be the marine corps.

oh yea and i allready have my pfc. Im working on getting points towrads lance corporal
