21 yr old graduating college considering joining Marines

Hi! I'm a 21 yr old female about to graduate college with a degree in Communications and Public Relations. I am considering joining the Marines but cannot decided whether to be enlisted or go the officer route. If I only plan on staying in for 4-8 years, is it worth it to go the officer route? Eventually, I want to work for the government. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes! 100% get your butter bars. Especially if you want to work for the govt when you get you out.

Since you already have your degree with plans to work for government, officer route would provide more opportunities for you. Good Luck!

The site below will give you more than enough info. Similar to Leatherneck, just log in and troll.

You're past the point of PLC or NROTC, if you're going officer.

Also, being an officer will give you a leg up once you get out. Many Government workers, especially in th DoD are former officers

Any questions just ask if you can't find what you want on the above link

    Best of luck

    Dan

That's hard to say, unlike enlisted, officers generally don't get to chose an MOS unless it's Aviation or JAG. Also the needs of the Corps come first, your class standing and other factors come into play re. an MOS but bottom line, you're in the Marines to lead and serve.

    You get saluted.

    You don't get saluted.

... besides, you wanted a government job afterwards, and your sheepskin and warrants will look quite nice.

RVTN21, you're posting in the wrong forum.

The Women Marines forum is for Women Marines. Read the headings over each forum for a guide, and you may also want to read the site rules in the poolee and Ask A Marine forums too.
