    Recommended Reading list

Are there any books that anyone would recommend reading before and after Boot Camp? Books that can be about boot camp or just about being in the Corp in general? I've read a few that are keeping me motivated until I leave:
Devil Dog Diary - GySgt. William Price (his first hand account of boot)
Making the Corps - Thomas Ricks (following a platoon through boot and a little history)

A few others have already been recommended, one by my recruiter, First to Fight by Victor Krulak and another by a fellow poolee, Generation Kill by Evan Wright.
If anyone has anything else to add I would love to hear about it. Thanks

I just finished Flags of our Fathers. The books is MUCH better than the movie.

Right now I'm reading Lone Survivor. It's a about a Navy Seal whose entire squad (except for one) was killed during in operation in Afghanistan in 2005. It has started off a little slow, but is now getting good. A lot of people recommended this book before I finally picked it up.

and to fellow females poolees I recommend
Parris Island a Woman's Memoir of Marine Corps Boot Camp

Good read, Lisa Cordeiro wrote about her experience at boot camp and also included some letters from family and friends.

if u could get your hands on the guide book i would read it. also the commandant has a reading list so look that up and get some books for there.

Google the Commandant's reading list and go at it. A few good choices are "One Bullet Away" by Nathaniel Fick, "Fields of Fire" by James Webb, "Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein (lot of good stuff in there pertaining to military ethics, if you take the time to read it carefully) and "Steel My Soldiers Hearts" by David Hackworth.

Just remember, you can never read too much, especially when its about the Marine Corps!

"We were one" is a fantastic book about the Marines who took Fallujah.

Generation Kill by Evan Wright is a great read. It's funny as hell and gives you some insight on the Force Recon Marines that fought in Iraq.
